Title: Tom Thumb's Court Suit
Original caption: Tom Thumb's court suit worn during his 1844 visit with Queen Victoria. During his adult years, P.T. Barnum's diminutive protege measured an average of just 35 inches. For scale, the suit is shown next to an 1889 edition of Barnum's autobiography, "Struggles and Triumphs." A wide variety of Tom Thumb's personal belongings are exhibited in the new Barnum Museum in Bridgeport, Connecticut, which opens to the public on Saturday, June 10.
