One day Milton Caniff, creator of the popular comic strip, “Steve Canyon” is sketching a character to be a symbol for Goodwill Industries.
“This is a friendly looking fellow. Looks like he might want to help others. But if he stands for Goodwill Industries, he ought to be handicapped himself!”

“Too bad about being handicapped. It can happen so suddenly, and in so many different ways...”
