Day with Davis or in a Rut with Ruth

Davis, 7575 Craigleigh Dr, Parma, O

3

Twelve hours after a stay at Toomey Pavilion. Looks like there will have to be some big changes made. Got to figure out a new routine that will include an hour free for stomach-lying.

4

Hi, Robbie. Did you turn off the alarm? Now wake Daddy so he can wake David and Nancy so Nancy can wake Henrietta so Bonnie can go out.

5

I try to snatch more sleep while I still have the chestpiece on. Early morning hospital routine is good training for this.

6

Bus gone? Okay, then I better get over on my stomach right now while I can still talk myself into the idea. That TV Quiz Man better not call. He couldn't understand why I couldn't talk.

7

After dressing, we congo into the dining alcove and my hospital bed and I'm set for business. First thing I have to look out the picture window and check that everything is the same in the neighborhood.

8

The baker comes. That is a number one test for willpower.

9

All the Azaleas have blooms this morning? Think I'll have ham sandwich for lunch. Then we'll have to figure out the menu for next week and I'll call the order in. Also have to get that order mailed to Aldens.

10

Have to get up and type. Push the bed over, wheel the chair in. The electric typewriter is ready to go. The mouthpiece is in the desk and the paper and letters to answer are on the over-bed table leaning into the type-writer. I'm sure the typewriter is under all that mess!!

11

As soon as I get up the phone starts ringing. Ida -- know what she wants. Better not call her back until I finish this article. Call Vernon too...got to remember to tell him the joke Sally sent. Two homeroom mothers call about donations for the P.T.A. Bazaar. Have to check with them. Third homeroom mother yet to call -- maybe I should call her.

12

Mommy, can I go to Gary's? Change your clothes.

13

Can I have popsicle? After you have changed your clothes.

14

David, Mr. Kelly left the card for your new customer. And don't spend all your money on bubblegum.

15

Nancy, we have some celery leaves you can take to Barbara's bird.

16

Suppertime. No youngsters in sight. Henrietta, clang the bell then give them 5 minutes.

17

Mae comes in to say hello.

18

Telephone some names to verify them for the church directory.

19

Vi comes in looking for Gary.

20

Mrs. Jones calls to find out if Kathy is here. Send Henrietta to yell down the basement stairs, see if anyone answers to that name. One does.

21

Clear basement, backyard and garage of little people. None belong to us. Clang the bell again.

22

Henrietta goes to run the bathwater.

23

A little "stranger" comes scurrying out.

24

Missed Cheyenne completely. May be able to get enough of Earp to figure it out. Henrietta checks the Indian schedule so we won't miss that!!

25

Don't know if I can stay awake for eleven o'clock news. Dave is going to watch the movie. I'll reverse my morning procedure ending up in the bedroom. Tomorrow I'll try again to get everything organized.

26

Good night
