President Franklin D. Roosevelt,
The White House, Washington, D. C.

7

My dear Mr. President:

8

I have delayed answering your letter of June 9th until I could know definitely when we could expect the bids. All of the Contractors I have heard from write that they cannot get an adequate bid by the twenty-third. I think that it is important to give them enough time as that may have considerable bearing on lowering the cost. I am, therefore, notifying them that the bids must be in before June 28th and I believe that this date can be satisfactorily met by them. I think I should be up there at that time and I am, accordingly, planning to be in Hyde Park while you are there on the 28th and 29th.

9

I didn't mean to scare you by telling you that the house might cost $18,000.00. I hope very much that we may juggle it so that we may get it done considerably below that.

10

In answer to your question, I do not think it is necessary to bother you to talk to my New York Associate at this time. We can discuss this when I see you at Hyde Park.

Thank you for the check,
Sincerely yours,
Henry
