President Franklin D. Roosevelt
Washington, D. C.

5

Dear Mr. President:

6

Our club has joined the thousands of other organizations which are holding birthday parties in your honor on January 30th, 1934.

7

We enclose the first ticket which we respectfully ask that you autograph so that we may frame and exhibit it in our club rooms.

8

Will you be good enough to advise us as to the correct name of the Warm Springs Foundation and the person to whom we should address ourselves in forwarding proceeds?

9

Word from you will help us considerably in making this function both a fine charitable and patriotic affair.

10

The writer wishes to take the liberty to express her own respect and. admiration for the splendid courage of purpose and enlightened vision your Administration is showing. Thousands of us who live in small communities like ours are deeply inspired by you and confident that through you we shall yet achieve a better and fuller life.

11

Most respectfully yours,
Mrs. John J. Agne

14

My dear Mrs. Agne:

15

The President asks me to acknowledge receipt of and thank you for your letter of January thirteenth.

16

As the President is tremendously busy at this time with matters of great importance, we are asking all of his friends to excuse him from autographing. I am sure you can understand the necessity of conserving his time and energy, and the difficulty of making an exception.

17

I would suggest that for any information, or in forwarding the proceeds, you communicate with Henry L. Doherty, 60 Wall Street, New York City, who heads up the Committee having charge of the "Birthday Balls".

18

The President is delighted to know of your reaction to the accomplishments of the Administration.

19

Sincerely yours,

20

M. H. McIntyre
Assistant Secretary to the President
