The great crowd outside greeted Miss Keller with enthusiasm as she left the school building. She told the throng that she would speak, and so great was the rush toward the steps to hear her that the police reserves of the East Twenty-second Street Station were called out to restore order.

Miss Keller repeated her appeal to toilers not to serve in the proposed army of defense, and concluded her speech by saying:

"Let us start a world-encircling revolt, a revolt which shall make a junk heap out of the civilization of Kaisers and Kings and all the things that make of man a brute and of God a monster."

When she stopped there was a concerted rush toward her, and she was lifted off her feet and carried to her waiting automobile.
